Birthday Celebration in PCF

14 March 2011 is the start of school holiday, hence, Pearlyn had an early celebration in PCF with her classmates.  The teachers are nice enough to ask Amberlyn to join in, that's what I like about the teachers there ^_^ .  Pearlyn wore her princess barbie dress to school and lots of her girlfriends told her that she's very pretty today. She's so excited and happy, guess she's someone who love to be in the limelight.

Got a princess cake for her, the kids love the cake and most had 2nd round, if not third round...hahaha....next time I should get 3 kg instead ....but no more next year for Pearlyn, she'll be in P1 then.

The class is pretty big, 29 of them and mostly girls. The teachers suggested taking separate pictures with the girls and boys so everyone can be seen clearly.

A couple of Pearlyn's best friend gets to put up the candle on her cake. Look at the candles, it's all over the cake!

After the children finished their cakes, they all said thank you to Pearlyn and I for the cake and the goody bags. I believe they were influenced and thought by the teachers to give praise and to say thank you . Thumbs up, Teacher Eva and 李老师!

Dining tables and chairs made from paper

GemsPapa babysitted the Gems yesterday as BL Ah Ma went to see the doc. They went to the office to fetch me from work and we went to Suntec City to buy our grocery and have dinner. The Gems went to sleep shortly after we reached home as it had passed they usually sleeping time.

On Saturday morning, I got a pleasant surprise. Pearlyn proudly showed me her set of dining table and chairs she made yesterday out of just paper and adhesive tapes. I am really impressed by her art work!

GemPapa said the Gems are always very independent at home with him and will play or work by themselves, very different when I am around. Hmm....in that case, maybe GemsPapa should babysit them more often while GemsMummy go enjoy herself! :)

Dry nights goals

When someone spoke to me about her intention to bring her girl to see doc regarding
bedwetting issues, it strike me hard, did I not put in effort, or rather did I stopped putting effort in Pearl's dry night training which we started sometime ago?

I started it when she was five, encouraging first, then pressurizing when she didn't progress. A reward system was also put in place. She was getting better but in a very slow pace.

However, things changed when Amber, who's 2 years her junior started to announce that she does not want to wear diapers at night anymore and she did it with only about 5% of accidents. Pearl, who's very 好胜,begins to feel very stressed up as she thinks that being the elder one, she should be able to be diaper-free earlier than her little sister. Every morning she wakes up, she'll first check her own diaper then ask me whether her little sister wet her bed the night before. She even suggested that I wake her up twice instead of once at night. To avoid causing emotional turmoil to her, I explained to her that to be able to be diaper-free at night really depends on individual. Some kids can achieve that earlier then the rest because their body are ready earlier, and that is something we cannot control. Most importantly, that its nothing wrong to be a bit later than the others as long as we had tried. Now, we can only keep trying.

I have came up with the following plans and hope we can achieve 100% dry nights soon

1. Night milk to be taken at late afternoon instead so bladder have lesser liquid
2. Empty bladder right before going to bed
3. To wake up for toilet again about 2 hrs after bedtime
4. Back on reward system
5. Lots and lots of encouragement.

If we don't succeed after 3 months, I'll get the urine detector. If still cannot, she'll have to see doc then. Good luck to us!

Pearl's CCC Christmas Party and Mini Performance

Pearl loves music and dance and she loves performing. Her teaches told me that she sings that best, hence, was put to stand in the middle of first row. So proud of your girl!

My 1st drilling and filling at the dentistry

Pearl was a very brave girl. She had 2 of her decayed baby molar "drilled" and "filled" by the dentist today FOR THE 1ST TIME.  I was worried that GA will be needed as she is quite a timid girl. Nope...I was wrong, she had her teeth all fixed up on the dentist chair! Her appointment was schedule on 9 February 2009 but she was complaining of toothache when she chews her food...hence...I thought better not procastinate (she had been complaining for almost a month!). We went to School Dental Centre at Outram. My jaw dropped when I was told total cost was $24. I was like.."erm...she did 2 teeth and 1 x-ray leh" and the cashier told me yes...total JUST $24.

Just imagine about a year ago, I brought her to a dentist (cannot remember name liao) at Camden Centre. Just did an x-ray and checking her teeth (nothing else) cost $200! What a difference!

I highly recommend School Dental Centre to all children. Its specially for children. The decor, dentist and nurse are cater for young children and best of all...it super worth the money! Details can be found here http://www.hpb.gov.sg/studenthealth/article.aspx?id=622

And here's a picture of my brave Pearlyn during the treatment...

Pearl change CCC...YMCA Metropolitan at Bishan

This decision was made after papa and I went to view several CCCs around Toa Payoh, Serangoon and Bishan. It is not very easy to find a good CCC without air-con nowadays. But for the benefit of Amber, no choice, have to make sure it's non-aircon. This arrangement was also only made possible when my FIL confirmed that he can help to ferry Pearl thru and fro as there's no school bus service available.

The children in the centre all look happy and chatty. And there's lots of programs organised for them. In the month of school holidays like June and December, there's even more activities and outing. Pearl is lucky to join the CCC in June as there's outing to the zoo. Every month, they'll also bring all the children to the Clementi libruary.

I also let her join My Budding Actors, a speech and drama class, where 2 teachers from the speech and drama school will come to their centre to teach on every Tuesday. She also attends My Little Musician, a kinder music class, where they attend at the YMCA Metropolitan headquarters in Stevens road on every Thursday (their ECA day). A chartered bus will ferry them to and back to the centre. This really ease me from having to bring her to too many enrichment classes on weekends and thus leaving Amber with even lesser of my time.

Another thing that Pearl was very excited about is that she gets to have a bottle of vitagen and a pack of strawberry milk once every week. Of coz, I have to pay for that lah. So all in all, the school fees + enrichment classes + vitagen + milk + monthly outings comes up to almost $700 per month. That's more than $200 above her current childcare fees but it's very reasonable. Their teachers also looks very loving and nice. And another thing that I like about this CCC is that they have their breakfast, lunch and tea break in another area designated for this purpose, like a small kitchen and you know what, there's proper chairs and tables for the children (erm, in her current CCC, they actually sits on the cold ceramic floor to have their food and do their work...).

Papa and I feels that we really look dumb, as we bought our new flat for the reason that the kids' CCC is in the same block, but after we moved in less than 2 months, we actually transferred them out and they'll now attend a CCC that's in Bishan. What to do, we just want them to be happy and make sure that the environment where they spend most of their time in is loving and condusive.

Pearl precious, mummy really hope you'll enjoy your new journey in this new CCC...

And here's a peek at her new uniform...she looks so excited looking forward to her new teachers and friends...

FINALLY, decision have been made to change Pearl's current CCC to YMCA metropolitan http://www.mymca.org.sg/childcare/ .

It's a Bad Hair Day!

Mummy found this picture in papa's mobile phone. It was taken on 2 November 2007. Don't I look funny? This wig belongs to my TPY Ah MA.
